Former Manchester City player, Benjamin Mendy has filed a complaint against his former employers for unpaid salaries.
The French international has decided to sue last season’s treble winners for multi-millions of pounds after they refused to pay him his wages. The 29-year-old filed a claim with the employment tribunal in the last few days claiming an unauthorised deduction after he was charged with rape and sexual assault in 2021.
Benjamin Mendy was found not guilty on all counts early this year (2023) and he is seeking the monies that Manchester City owes him until the end of his contract in June 2023.
Mendy joined City from Monaco for £52 million in 2017 which was the highest amount paid for a defender at that time in the Premier League. He won three titles with the Manchester club and was also part of France’s World Cup-winning squad in 2018.
